WoW Alchemy Guide

Version for patch 3.3

This alchemy guide provides you the cheapest and the quickest way to level this profession. It uses recipes obtained only from vendors or trainers. So you won't go through the whole world to get a rare recipe and got 2 more points in your skill. To get the information about specific recipe (its source) you can click on its title.

At skill level 345 you can choose one specialization – Transmutations, Potions or Elixirs. A specialist has a possibility to create additional items when crafting. For example master of potions has a chance create a several bottles of mixtures while crafting one potion. However this chance is not very high – it's something about 15%. You can change specialization at any time by talking with the NPC who have trained your specialization. Specialization's change costs 150g.

The main source of getting most powerful potion's recipes is discovering. Every time you craft or transmute an item using recipe with level 300+ you have a small chance to discover a new recipe. In Northrend you can also use Northrend Alchemy Research every 24 hours to discover a new recipe.

Herbalism is the ultimate pair for alchemy. Every recipe needs some hers. So you can save a lot of gold by gathering mats yourself, not buying them from AH.

	At skill level 325 you can start quest for getting specialization. Choose one from three possible: Transmutations, Potions or Elixirs.

	This recipe becomes yellow at skill 355, so you will need to make more than 20 of potions to reach 360. Average number is 23. Recipe is sold by Haalrun (Zangarmarsh) for Alliance players and by Daga Ramba (Blade's Edge Mountains) for Horde players.

	This recipe becomes yellow at skill 390, so you will need to make more than 10 of potions to reach 395. Average number is 12.

	This recipe becomes yellow at skill 400, so you will need to make more than 10 of potions to reach 395. Average number is 12. Alternate way. When you hit Alchemy 400 you can use Northrend Alchemy Research for both leveling and discovering new recipes. If you will be lucky and discover Potion of Speed recipe you can use it to get you to skill level 415 because mats for this potions are the cheapest.

	This recipe becomes yellow at skill 422, so you will need to make more than 20 of potions to reach 425.

Leveling Alchemy 435–450

There are different ways to hit Alchemy skill 450 from 350. I'll list all of them. You can start creating flasks from 435, but there are also 2 ways to get 440 before starting with flasks.

List of possible flasks to get alchemy skill level 450. Remember that you can create any combinations of these flasks. For example you can create 5 x Flask of Endless Rage, 5 x Flask of Pure Mojo and 5 x Flask of Stoneblood to get up to 450.

Materials needed for this Alchemy guide

The list is approximate, there are some different ways in leveling Alchemy and you can go one or other. That's why you can need more or less of materials to get 450. Treat this list as an appraisal, not ready recipe. Don't use it to go to Auction House and buy everything at once.

Keep in mind that you will also need additional herbs for creating 15 flasks to move from 435 to 450. It's an impossible task to create a list of these herbs as you can choose any combination of flasks to create.
