WoW Blacksmithing Guide

Version for patch 3.3

This guide provides you the cheapest and the quickest way to level Blacksmithing. It mostly uses plans obtained from vendors and trainers. So you won't go through the whole world to get rare plans and got 2 more points in your skill. Some plans are quest rewards, but it's easy to get them. To get the information about specific plans (its source) you can click on its title.

At skill level 200 (and character's level 40) you can choose your specialization – Armorsmithing or Weaponsmithing. To get Armorsmithing talk to Myolor Sunderfury (Ironforge, Alliance) or Krathok Moltenfist (Orgrimmar, Horde) and complete the recieved quest. The Weaponsmithing quest–givers are Ironus Coldsteel (Ironforge, Alliance) and Borgosh Corebender (Orgrimmar, Horde). If you are a weaponsmith at level 250 you can choose a subspeciality: Axesmithing, Hammersmithing or Swordsmithing. For more information on specializations go to WoWWiki. At any time You can unlearn your specialization and get new one for a gold fee (~100g).

Another great ability of Blacksmiths is socketing. At level 400 you can add socket to your Bracers and Gloves. And at level 420 you can create Eternal Belt Buckle. It can be traded so it may be used by other people to create socket in their belt. This item can be a source of high income for blacksmith.

The ultimate profession pair for Blacksmithing is mining. At high levels (350+) may become really expensive while you will need MANY metal bars (and stones at low levels). Save a lot of gold by gathering materials yourself, not buying them from AH. You will save something about 1.5k gold only on saronite and cobalt, not talking about titanium.

	Sell these items on AH. They are selling well with a price varying from 30g to 50g (the price hardly depends on your server).
425–430	7 x Titanium Weapon Chain	14 7
	Another great item to sell on AH. An average price for it varies from 20g to 45g (again, it's hardly depends on the server you are playing).
430–435	5 x Savage Saronite Hauberk	70 5
	You can craft 5 x Savage Saronite Skullshield instead of this if eternal shadow is cheaper than eternal earth on your server.

Starting from 435 there are several ways to get you to 450. First is rather expensive because titansteel and frozen orbs are used for crafting epics. Steps for this way:

435–440	7 x Savage Saronite Hauberk	98 7
	This becomes yellow at 435 so you may have to create more than 5 of these items to reach 440. I've took 7 as an average amount. Again you can craft Savage Saronite Skullshield instead of this if eternal shadow is cheaper than eternal earth on your server.
440–450	10 x Titansteel Shield Wall	40 30 10
	It's the cheapest epic (cost of materials) to craft and you can try to sell it from AH. If you'll be lucky you can even make some profit from it. But don't list all 10 of them at once. List one or two shields at a time.

Second way to get 450 is cheaper than crafting but it highly depends on your luck. The used recipe became yellow at 435 and green at 445. So it's hard to predict how many items you will need to craft to reach 450 using this way.

435–450	25 x Savage Saronite Hauberk	350 25
	This becomes yellow at 435 and green at 445. It's impossible to predict how many of them you will need. It may be 20 or 40. I've took 25 as an average amount. Again you can craft Savage Saronite Skullshield instead of this if eternal shadow is cheaper than eternal earth on your server.
