WoW Leatherworking Guide

Version for patch 3.2

This guide provides you the cheapest and the quickest way to level Leatherworking. It uses patterns obtained only from vendors and trainers. So you won't go through the whole world to get rare pattern and got 2 more points in your skill. To get the information about specific pattern (its source) you can click on its title.

You can save a lot of gold if you choose skinning as a pair profession for Leatherworking. Leather is a main material for all crafts so it's better to get it yourself.

At skill level 225 you can choose specialization – Elemental (leather armor with agility and attack power), Dragonscale (mail armor for caster+melee) or Tribal (leather armor for healers). Armor created using specialization patterns can only be used by crafter.

Pattern: Overcast Handwraps is sold by vendor in Dalaran and costs 3 x Heavy Borean Leather.

Three different ways to do 435–440. All these patterns will be yellow at 435 so you will may have to create more than 5 items to reach 440. But all they are selling very well at AH so you can get your gold back and even make some profit from crafting them. The price for each piece of these armors is around 150g–180g but it highly depends on economics of your realm. You can continue with Leg Armors up to 445. They will be green, but in most cases you will sell them so it's a normal way to get 445.

Skill Pattern Materials
435–440 5 x Frosthide Leg Armor

Starting from Leatherworking skill 440 you can craft epic items. The best way to level here is to search for people who have materials for crafting BoE epics but don't have Leatherworking skill. Search for such customers in trade channel offering your skill. So you will get a skill up for free mats and the customer will recieve his epic without fee. It's a good deal for everyone.

Materials needed for this Leatherworking guide

The list is approximate, there are some twists in leveling Leatherworking and you can choose one or other way. That's why you can need more or less of materials to get 450. Treat this list as an appraisal, not ready recipe. Don't use it to go to Auction House and buy everything at once.
I didn't include materials for 440–450 skills at this list as there are too many ways to go.
